We always enjoy working with the NBC Learn team because they’re always bringing us into the beginning stages of the project’s inception giving us a chance to create with them as a team.
Before this 20 episode series had begun, a small group of us visited the Flying Heritage Collection in Seattle, a museum of WW2 aircraft owned by Paul Allen. I barricaded myself into the research library the first day on site and read old training manuals, propaganda collateral, and took photos of as many of the detailed schematics/blueprints/diagrams that I could. On day two, we shot textured closeups of the actual aircraft we’d later cover in the series. The textures became the driving force behind the creative throughout the series. We researched old war film reels, wartime medals, fonts, and posters to put together the entire package.
We were responsbile for the show open, internal graphics within each of the twenty episodes, and digital creative for online promotion.
